The Armidale weather has well and truly UNO reversed us this week! From blistering heat last Wednesday to pouring rain now — what a turn of events!
Please bear with us while we monitor the situation regarding whether tomorrow’s competition afternoon will go ahead. While athletics can (and often does) proceed in the rain, safety is our top priority — no thunder or lightning! We’re currently waiting for an update from Armidale Regional Council about whether the playing fields will be open, and we’ll keep you posted here as soon as we know more.
In the meantime (assuming we get the all-clear), here’s what’s planned for Week 3 👇
🏃♀️ It’s Part 1 of our Hurdles Weeks! Some of our age groups will be taking to the track for hurdles for the first time this season, so it’s all hands on deck — we’ll need plenty of parent helpers to assist with adjusting distances and heights between races.
🟡 Parent Helper Roster: • Set-Up: Tiny Tots • Event Helpers: 8s • Pack Down: 11s (You should have received an email from the club this week with more details!)
🍔 Canteen and BBQ are scheduled to go ahead as normal.
If we do go ahead and the rain sticks around, please make sure athletes dress appropriately — warm clothes, rain jackets, and bring your own water bottles.
Stay tuned here for updates once we get word from Council. 🤞 Let’s hope the weather clears so we can all get out there and leap into Week 3! 💛💚
✅ Quick Notes: 1️⃣ Don’t forget to vote for Armidale Athletics in the Greater Bank Community Funding initiative! We’re in the running for a share of $3,000 to help purchase new club equipment — every daily vote helps! 🙌
2️⃣ A huge thank you to Steve (and Matt) who got out and remarked all the lines yesterday afternoon, donating over 3 hours of their personal time to get this done for us! 💪 Our season couldn’t run without incredible volunteers like these two. 💛💚
